Tetra CO2 Laser CoolPeel

What is Tetra CO2 Laser CoolPeel?

A CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser is an ablative laser that delivers intense infrared light to the outer layers of the skin. It is used to remove the visible signs of sun damage, aging, scars, wrinkles, and benign skin growths like moles and skin tags. CO2 laser treatment is a popular skin resurfacing procedure because it involves minimal discomfort, quick recovery, and significant improvement in skin quality without the risks of surgery.

CoolPeel is a revolutionary next-generation Tetra CO2 Laser technology that offers all the benefits of traditional CO2 lasers without any downtime. A CoolPeel treatment is a non-invasive, non-surgical office procedure that targets the superficial layer of skin. It is performed to reduces sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, rosacea, large pores, and blemishes to reveal smoother, healthier, younger-looking skin with a more even tone and texture.

What makes Tetra CO2 Laser better than other CO2 Lasers?

CO2 lasers work by traumatizing or damaging the skin. Meaning, they remove the epidermis (outer layer) of the skin and heat the dermis (middle layer). This stimulates collagen production in the dermis. And as the epidermis heals and regrows, there is the appearance of smoother, clearer, tighter skin. However, because the top layer of skin is removed, CO2 laser treatment typically involves about a week of downtime.

A CoolPeel treatment is done with the latest, most advanced CO2 laser called the Tetra CO2 laser. What makes the Tetra CO2 Laser special is that it uses a very short pulse of light to deliver high energy to the skin. This means our licensed aesthetic provider can precisely control the injury caused to the superficial skin. There’s also less buildup of heat in surrounding tissues and less lingering heat in the skin. As a result, there is reduced redness, peeling, and flaking of the skin after CoolPeel treatments compared to traditional CO2 lasers. What’s more, CoolPeel uses a spray pattern that shortens the treatment duration to about 10 minutes compared to 1-2 hours with traditional CO2 lasers.

What to expect with CoolPeel treatment?

At your initial consult, our aesthetic provider will understand your concerns and explain the benefits you can expect from CoolPeel treatments. If you are deemed a suitable CoolPeel candidate, “before” pictures will be taken so that the results of the treatment can be tracked. Before your CoolPeel appointment, you will need to minimize sun exposure. Our licensed aesthetic provider will also give you a list of medications that you must stop using before your Tetra CO2 laser appointments, such as retinol and salicylic/glycolic acids.

The CoolPeel treatment itself only takes 10-15 minutes. Our aesthetic provider will clean your skin and apply a topical anesthetic (numbing cream) for about 30 minutes. The laser will be applied to the treatment area. Afterward, you may experience slight redness and roughness of the skin. For the first day or two, your skin may have a pinkish tinge to it, like a minor sunburn. It may also feel dry and scaly as it heals. You can reduce these aftereffects by staying well-hydrated, using a cooling mist spray, and avoiding the sun as much as possible.

How much does CoolPeel cost?

The price of a CoolPeel Tetra CO2 laser treatment can vary from place to place and will depend on your skin type and the extent of skin damage. As a general guideline, CoolPeel costs $800.00 per treatment. Depending on your desired results, you may need more than one CoolPeel treatment. Most patients will need between 2 – 3 treatments.

Will I need a special skincare regimen after CoolPeel?

Our aesthetic team may advise using some skincare on the treated area for a few days to prevent the skin from drying out. A cool, misting spray may also be used for comfort. For the first week after CoolPeel, it’s best to avoid sun exposure and intense workouts that can cause heavy sweating. You should use a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen while you heal from the CoolPeel treatment. After the first week, it is safe to exfoliate your skin. Also, avoid any makeup for the first 24 hours, after which you can use mineral makeup that allows your skin to breathe.
