Dermal fillers are useful in boosting facial areas where shape and definition have become less defined. Fillers are often used to diminish frown or cheek lines and to enhance lips. This is an ideal treatment for women who prefer a shapelier contour to lip lines. Another benefit to lip treatment is that fillers often help to prevent lipstick bleeding.
The procedure involves a series of injections under the lines using a very fine needle. The procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes and recuperation time is minimal. Most clients will return to their usual activities on the day of treatment without notice from friends or family.
Collagen has been the most widely used material as a dermal filler. It is a natural protein that supports the skin, making it stronger and more resilient. Once implanted, the collagen will gradually be absorbed back into the skin. The effects of the treatment will last from 6 to12 months.
Dermal injections are often used in conjunction with Botulinum. (
See Botox Injections/Botulinum).
